If you are a daughter of The Most High, you Must know that hour is here for The Marriage
Supper of The Lamb! Are you ready?
Here we will learn about how we must prepare for our Bridegroom's arrival and what happens if we aren't ready on time!
A wedding is a beautiful and joyous occasion!! It is a public declaration of commitment to one another, with the hope of a future together. It is a time to celebrate the union between a man and a woman in love and honor, most blessedly in the sight of God and on the foundation of His word.
But a wedding needs preparation. And a marriage begins with a courtship.
In the Bible, we learn about what marriage was designed for and what it should look like. There is an order to it's success and a recipe to it's beauty. If we follow the instructions, we are promised many blessings in this precious relationship, here on earth. And most importantly, we are given a special glimpse into the relationship that our Heavenly Bridegroom, Our Lord Jesus, has with his Bride, the church.
Courtship and Engagement
If you are a married woman, there is no doubt in your mind that you can remember the day you married your husband! Everything from your hair and make up to the food you celebrated with! It is a beautiful moment in time!
Of course saying "I do" to a life long commitment began with saying I do to your first date!
All couples have their unique stories of courtship and marriage. The one we will focus on is the one we have with The Bridegroom, Jesus. Our relationship with Jesus, after all, is the foundation of all our relationships, especially in marriage.
Do you remember when your relationship with Jesus began? Have you spent time with Him daily? Have you given your heart completely to Him?
The more time a man and a woman spend with one another, the more the intimacy in the marriage grows. The opposite relationship is true. Just as the condition of our marriage is a reflection of how much time we spend together. The condition of our relationship with Jesus is a reflection of how much time we spend with Him- in His Word, in His presence. The more time we spend, the closer we will become. The closer we become, the greater the intimacy. The greater the intimacy, the deeper the relationship.
Marriage
Marriage, biblical true marriage, is an eternal covenant between a man and a woman, woven together first in spirit by the hand of God Himself. Marriage is the divinely ordained union of two souls that were created for one another, to compliment each other as they live in love and honor for one another. Marriage is for a man and woman to carry out the inherited purpose within, together. Marriage is the most beautiful relationship given to humanity, when it is birthed from the hand of God.
Jesus, Our Forever Bridegroom
When I was a child, I would often hear my grandma, Mammy, refer to Jesus as her husband. I figured since she was very dedicated to her faith and my grandfather wasn't around anymore, she would just pretend that she was married to Jesus! Little did I know, she really was His bride.
And, if you are a born-again believer in The Lord Jesus Christ, yielding to the sanctification of The Holy Spirit- then so are you!
If you've been a Christian wife for any length of time you may know the verses that instruct us as wives to honor our husbands: Ephesians 5:22-32; 1 Peter 3:1-7 to name a couple. It has taken me a little while to see and understand that how I honor my husband is an indicator to how I honor my forever husband, Jesus.
You may need a moment to let that one sink in! I certainly did!
If you find yourself resisting this truth, stop and pray that The Lord will soften your heart and allow you to see what He wants you to see, so that you may be free to be obedient in relation to your marriage. If you feel that you're struggling to let go of the pain you've experienced in your marriage, you may want to seek wise counsel. Don't feel alone- we all need the help and guidance of wise counsel (Proverbs in filled with verses on this). If you feel that your issues need bigger help, seek wise counsel from a trusted believing friend, your local church or a counselor.
In Ephesians 5:22-33 we see a beautiful and wonderful instruction and example of both the relationship between wives and husbands and the church and Christ. Meditate on this and ask The Holy Spirit to lead you into all truth.
It may seem strange at first to see Jesus as your husband but remember that we, the church, are His bride. And He is coming for His beloved sooner than any of us can imagine.
I hope to share more practical ways that we can prepare ourselves for that Day!
For now, sit at the feet of Jesus and be still...His love will calm all your fears!
